Description

One of my 2 or 3 favorite designs for hardware in Star Trek is Andrew Probert's Vulcan Warp Shuttle from ST:TMP. The Shuttle itself was meant to be the standard Star Fleet shuttlecraft of the era, and I love its practical, windowless nose and unconventional look, while it keeps a lot of influences from the series shuttles. The Warp Sled was our first chance to see Vulcan design influence, and once again, its lines are interestingly offbeat from most Trek. I just actually bought the plastic model, which has finally been reissued, and was about to sit down and take a run at modeling it myself in 3D, when I discovered Axeman3D had done a really impressive job of it, all ready. So here's my first image done with Axeman's Warp Shuttle. Many thanks for an excellent mesh! Lightwave 8.5 and Photoshop for touch-up Thanks for taking a look! -Tom

I think this piece came out great. The planet certainly evokes Vulcan to my (Trek purist) mind and your handling of the shuttle and lighting it for space are masterful. Certainly one of the finest images I've ever seen of this craft.

Love the scene and render, but come-on. Go ahead and model it just for the sake of the exercise, and see if you can do as good or better.

this Vulcan shuttle is also one of my favorite Star Trek designs. it certainly seems more practical than the Vulcan ships depicted in the series "Enterprise>" nice work!
