Description

Did I mention that I designed and built the "SteamMech" for Daz a few years ago? I'd forgotten how much I like that model, so I grabbed myself a new version and began playing with it again. Here, my latest SteamPunk creation, SteamBetty, is seen piloting the SteamMech down a typical Chicago around the turn of the century. Rather than going for a beautifully detailed render, I tried to match the film grain, the dust and scratches, and the contrast and gamma of the original photo. I wanted it to seem perfectly believable as an "archival" photo. What do you think??

That looks eerily like archive photo's of a local street here...nicely done!

Looks very believable - beautiful job on this! For some reason, this image awoke memories of a movie I saw some years ago that was a film version of the TV show 'Wild, Wild West.' The movie villian had the most magnificent steam powered mechanical spider - which was the most memorable part of the movie. Talk about steampunk... Anyway, I love this image - great work!

Pretty seamless integration. I love the two guys on the corner to the right who seem like they're staring at it as it goes by. The only improvement I'd recommend is maybe adding some more mechs so they look more like an integral part of the society. Maybe that's a whole different project though.

I agree Onimusha. Another Mech in the distance, a few blocks back, would definitely complete the scene. Maybe a revision is in order. Thanks!
