Description

As promised, the close up of the cove at Montana de Oro. This just gives a better view of that little outcrop of rock that sheltered this little cove (okay, maybe not so little) and gives a really good view of the way the layers of the cliffsides are worn and shaped. These are actually 'sheets' of rock thrust up at almost an angle rather than flat layers of sediment. Given that the area is within what is called The Ring of Fire (no relation to the Johnny Cash song) and one of the Nine Sisters (one of a string of ancient volcanos along the California coast) is not far away from this beautiful beach. Enjoy. (Running into a few problems with the content reload and it's going slower than expected (or wanted), but getting back to it) Photo (c) 2009 Twilight Productions

Outstanding detail of that beautiful cove! I always find it remarkable how the sea wears away at cliff facings and the unique forms you can find in the rocks around the tide. Very, very cool!
