Description
Over a thousand years have passed since elves and dragons forged a pact to defend the realms against evil. During that time, all newly hatched dragons were trained to accept elven warriors as riders and companions. The elves sent their most promising young warriors to be trained for the honor of being a Dragon Rider. The years of training was some of the toughest any would go through, and in the end there could only be one warrior for every dragon. Those who weren't selected would return to their regular garrisons where most would go on to become some of the most feared and respected leaders of the Elven armies.
Eloana was a Dragon Master, she was a member of the elite who's job it was to handle the dragons from the time they hatched up to the day they were paired with their rider. Only the best could be a Dragon Master, it took a lot of inner strength to be able to train a dragon, even as hatchlings they were fiercely independent and strong willed. Eloana was up to the task though, she usually developes a strong bond with her charges within the first year. These little dragons can be seen with her almost constantly when they are not participating in training with the Potentials. She is returning to the Dragon Cave with these two after their first introduction to the Potentials. Their training won't officially start until the end of the year, by which time there will be three more, but they will still meet with the Potentials almost daily. This gives them the chance to get used to being around so many elves.
On the trip back to the cave, both little dragons turn back in challenge, something is following them. Eloana smiles to herself upon seeing their reaction. She knows its just some of the newer Potentials trying to get a better look at her and her charges, but the dragons' reactions are what she was looking for. She knew if they were this quick to try to defend her now, they would do well as their training advanced. "Its okay girls," she said to the dragons. "Boys will be boys, lets get back to the cave and get some rest." Over her shoulder she commands "And you boys need to get back to the barracks, you will see plenty of me and my dragons over the next couple decades or so!"
