Description
This photo was taken last winter ,and it was truly a magical moment when suddenly enormous flocks of cranes apeared from all directions and landed on the fields near where we were standing . The noise they made was overpowering ,imagine thousands of birds all talking at the same time .

Once, a few years ago, in the spring, we were hiking down a creek near our "camp", and we heard this unearthly noise .. two things came to mind .. either some farmer was killing a pig in a very inept and probably painful way and the pig was screaming, screaching in pain, or it was what I would imagine prehistoric Pterodactyls might sound like. As we stood and watched, trying to see what it was high in the treetops (obviously not a pig being slaughtered!) we saw the crane flying in to feed her chicks, and the unearthly noises began again as soon the chicks saw the mother crane! I can just imagine the noise from thousands of cranes .. and what a fantastic photo, a marvelous capture .. something I would never have seen or imagined had you not posted this wonderfully beautiful image!
