Description

I find close-up portraits to be one of the most difficult type of 3D images to pull off convincingly. Not just in Vue but in all rendering programs. Here is a recent attempt where I tried to do a fairly close-up portrait of my character Jazz. I imported the posed OBJ from DAZ Studio and then redid all materials and set up the lighting in Vue 8 Infinite. Probably not spectacular, but I was pretty happy with the result and decided to show here anyway. Ciao TD

You are correct about the difficulty in portraits...I have yet to do one I feel worthy of posting. But your is quite lovely! You did an excellent work!

Great portrait... I love the character and the textures... I am not very experienced, and as in the first poster I have not made any renders that I am willing to post. Just looking at it in as an amateur I think the skin is very nice, but it looks too smooth. Maybe the lighting or textures/bumpmaps??? Not that it prevents the image being a quality one, and the texturing/materials of the shirt, eyes and hair is excellent. I work in Poser and have tried many portraits the skin never seems right to me. Just my personal view...
