Description

When I was on one of my adventures into the Texas countryside, I was stopped on the road by a wandering, small herd of cattle. I became very interested in these two guys and leaned over the passenger seat to look at them. As you can see, they were quite interested in me too. I thought this a good image to dedicate to an extremely talented photographer, who has posted many wonderful images of cows. (and ducks, and giraffes, and goats and Raskel, and so much more) I hope you like these two guys Lynell. Best wishes for a continuing recovery from your surgery. Your work is a joy and inspiration! Thank you for your very kind comments too. For anyone who has not seen Lynell's excellent gallery, it is here

LOL @ jayfar! I lived on a farm for a couple of years. Used to have to chase the neighbours cows off the road all the time. It made driving interesting.

As I get older I eat less and less beef. This is one reason why. They are adorable and look like youngsters. I see what looks like the beginning of a horn on the head of the one on the left. A great image, they look so curious and gentle. A wonderful dedication for Lynell. I know she will love it.

This really is a great pic Lucinda and you gave me the biggest smile ever with the title as I knew instantly it was for Lynell. She's going to adore this and the charming nature in which you presented it. I must admit it does seem as if their taking time out to pose just for you.

Cool foto of the errant bovines, Lucinda, but in all honesty they look like a couple of sheep with transplanted cow heads, which is probably the effects of the low angle of the sunlight bouncing off their bods. I notice their ears are on the alert for any soothing comments from you as you were preparing to snap their picture.

What a title! What a pair of bovine beauties! I love their expressions and eyelashes and shaggy hair. The light is perfect as well. It's funny, even though I see these as either raw steak or milk machines, there's no denying their inherent grace and dignity as well. Funny how that goes at times, but I'm like that. The light in this is fantastic as is the manner in which you've caught subtle shades of color and form...nice curves and ripples and little bovine-hair-arabesques. In short, this is a wonderful piece of work, and well...in addition to that I love Andrea's question and have to repeat it, especially in terms of the expressions on their faces: "What were you wearing?" Cattle don't take much of an interest in things...well...that's been my experience.

I was wearing a deep purple Mardi Gras T-shirt and jeans. Maybe they like purple, or maybe they are planning to attend Mardi Gras next year. :-) As tourists, not kabobs!
