nice pic! i suspect that tree-climbing is not a preferred marmot activity, and that he got up there to escape from a predator...?

I don't think he went up there to escape a predator because we kept walking after Marc took this shot and on the way back, maybe 45 minutes later, he was still there on the branch, basking in the sun.
