Description

"At the beginning of an epic quest, a small band of heroes sets out for adventure... " Hello everyone and thanks for looking... Well, I'm finally starting to get the hang of Poser 8, more or less. Some things took a little getting used to, but I've figured out ways to work around most of them. I'm not completely sold on the new library functions. I like Poser 7s library where you can stretch the library window all the way across your desktop and see more of the items in your runtime. Poser 8s library is constrained to the top right column of the screen, and it's a little tougher to view items. On the other hand, it has an embedded search function, which makes up for the smaller real estate pretty well. Other differences are that instead of a bunch of floating windows, the sections of the Poser interface are set up in a uniform way, with all the buttons easily accessible. And my version seems to have a bug that prevents you from grabbing the rings around the body parts to directly manipulate them on the screen. I'm sure that there will be a fix for this in the next service release, but I really like to tweak my poses to make them look right, and it's a pain to have to make fine adjustments using the bend/twist/side-to-side wheels. But my favorite features of the new Poser is it's improved ability to use multiple processors for rendering speed, and improved memory usage. From what I've read, older Poser versions had trouble with its ability to store morphs in memory. Now it's a little more like Daz Studio where it consolidates the memory and uses it more efficiently. So, it should be able to process more characters in a render. I'm going to have to put that to the test later. All in all, I like the new version a lot, and I give it my thumbs up. For those of you who commented on my last posts, I hope this helps out. As always, I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about this one. In answer to adorety, I organize my files into separate runtimes, like shown in the Rendo tutorial below. I also kept all my extra runtimes copied on an external hard drive just in case of a computer disaster. That really helped when setting up Poser 8, since I was up and running in about 20 minutes. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/tutorial/index.php?tutorial_id=1926

Nice work. Perhaps we'll be able to join them on their quest. Note about Poser 8 runtime. I set up separate folders for special categories like V4, V3, M3, M4, Hair, Downloads, etc. This helps in going directly to what I want without using the cool search feature, which is also a boon.

Very nicely done. But you know, the cat's gonna die. Well, in every adventure we conducted, whenever someone brought a pet, it inevitably died. :P

That's a good intro for Poser 8, Tom. Thanks for the numerous points of info that you've mentioned here. It seems like most of everyone's problems are about organization of files (mine too). A nice and effective portrayals of your characters, very imaginative and fanciful!

"I like Poser 7s library where you can stretch the library window all the way across your desktop and see more of the items in your runtime." You can do that? 0_0 LOL, I guess Poser 8's library won't bother me then, if I wasn't using all of 7's features. I love that you can render lots of people at once now, as I know about losing morphs when things get too full. I like this a lot--you know I love Viktor and I kinda want that cat..don't know how I'd keep it fed, but it's just what I'd take on an adventure--assuming it didn't mistake me for dinner;)
