Description
Years spent under waves of pain
Oceans of salty tears
tossed along the ocean floor
She withdrew into her shell
to keep her protected
from the bashing of barnacles
the unsuspecting predators
for even the sea urchins
looked beautiful
it was easier to stay inside
where there was little risk of getting crushed
or having her head bitten off by the sharks
Soon she washed up onto the shore
the water receeded
leaving her on a ledge high above the waves
for from here she could see the vastness
the immensity of where she came from
and lived for so long
the ocean of tears went on
for as far as she could see
and she was in awe of the beauty of it....
Remembering the painful blows
when she had been beaten against coral walls
how the barnacles scratched her shell
as she was driven into them
with each passing riptide
how the sand used to find its way
into the shell
to blind her eyes and make them sting
yet
without
her shell wouldnt be as strong,
but it also wouldnt be unique.....
For each scratch and deformity
upon shimmering surface
is a reminder to her
of where she has been
And someday
when someone comes along
searching for the unique shell
maybe she will be the one he chooses
For she will stand out
as STRONG
yet SOFT inside....
There will be none other like her
Maybe he will admire her battered shell
and find beauty in her flaws
for they were gained
by years residing
in the
ocean
of
tears

heh, oh, I use my $40 lil vivitar camera from walmart and hope they dont turn out fuzzy :)
