Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

And mustn't forget "dust to dust" after the ashes and debris decompose. Lots of interesting light-exposed textures in this shot, Maz.

Interesting capture of this bit of the deck or whats left of it.

Certainly not much left, very sad!

This is quite nice, you know. When I first looked at it, my eyes hadn't exactly caught on how to "read" it and so it looked as if you took an areal shot of rows and rows of people in dark helmets. After adjusting (it took only a second) I saw what it is, and I love that texture...the source of it is quite unpleasant, in terms of coming from the remains of someone's home/property, but it's compelling nonetheless; its a gorgeous combination of textures and unexpected color! Nice work.

Such a sad story about your friend, thankful he is okay! At first glance I thought it was still burning but then realized it was a lovely piece of wood. Who would have thought that a charred piece of wood would make such a lovely abstract? The textures and spots of color are very well seen and captured!

Sorry to hear about your friend's house. We had a bad fire in our apartment in 1978, so I know how traumatic it can be. And then this is compounded by the loss of your possesions and sense of security. When I first looked at this I thought it had something to do with glass blowing or black-smithery. And then I thought it was still on fire. A very nice photo. Funny how interesting and powerful things frequently arise from tragedy.

Here today, gone tomorrow! reminds me of the transient nature of all things. Marilyn...I've missed a bunch of your postings in the last few days...but rest assured I've seen them all and think you've been doing an extra good job of late!
