On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Great shot. This could be anywhere in UK.

very candid capture.I was in the largest national chain of super markets/clubs and I happened to notice the checkout lady moving items so the corner would be touching the scales and then she would weigh the produce.the things were paid for and then I went to get a supervisor.I was polite about it, but when I asked her to reweigh the items, the bananas weighed less than the receipt said.the next time I go, I will watch and see if it was a one time affair or a habit.if it is a habit then they are outright stealing from the customers.then I will contact the tv stations, better BBB and any one else that will listen

I really enjoy these candid shots. I miss so much everyday just rushing right on past. I guess that's what makes photography such a fascinating art form, and photographers such artistic people. You pull us up and make us think. Well done! Thanks.

Food Network! LOL! Wow - I want some of those red, yellow, orange and red bell peppers! Time to get grillin' They'd go great with the tilapia I grilled up tonight. Nice one, Bill! So colorful! With the painterly effect on this, it does bring Rockwell to mind.
goodoleboy
Yes, it reminds me of a scene repeated hundreds of times on streets in Central and South America. I can't believe this is in Seattle. In any case, a fine capture of the populace and produce.

Great shot, like the filter!

Well you've gone and done it! Got me biting at the champ waiting for the local farmer's markets to start up. Still have a ways to go here though... Nicely rendered photo, the filter really does make it for this shot. : )

Super shot, Bill--and the postwork is wonderful. It does remind of me something, but I just can't figure out what it is (you WILL tell us, won't you??)
auntietk
You already know what it reminds me of, since I flipped out the minute I walked in the house and saw this! Shades of Renoir and his street scenes, with that woman as a calm focal point in a sea of activity. I love the composition. The arc formed by the heads of the four people in the foreground, the group of three women in the background, the awnings, that fantastic scale ... this just sings! You did a wonderful job on the postwork. I love the way this turned out!

Tara's comment struck a note with me (pun)... I can hear Dean Martin singing 'Standing on the Corner watching all the girls go by...' Great candid mood and work, Clive
