Description
It's 2d but it's not a painting. I wanted to test some rumours about how artists "cheat" using photos, PS and various techniques to make very realistic "paintings" and claim that they are painted by hand :)
This pic is quick and dirty experiment on how it can be done.
It took less than hour, bunch of photos and some overpaint. I think if I gave it more time (correct lights and other mistakes), it could pose as painting with some success... How do you think?

wow. i'm blown away. that's just beautiful. most people, including myself, do not have the skills necessary for a "cheat" of this quality. and certainly not done so quickly.

Wow... very fantastic and fascinating artwork.

It's really beautiful no matter how it was created. I think it could pass as a painting, but why bother. It's a great digital image.

I'm in agreement with Pope' .. I find this a very warm, enchanting and inspiring image. It would not matter for me even if I saw all the original elements in your experiment. The end result is the core matter of art and how that result is experienced and processed by viewers. Regardless of what materials we use, a quality work still requires skill, talent, aesthetic sensibility and a creative mind which cooks these all together. Congratulations in discovering what you set out after and also for producing a very enjoyable vision! I'd luv to see it larger. ;-) Elsewhere .. I am very happy you posted this evening and that I found your gallery. For in looking around I realized that You were my vote for the Halloween challenge. As the artist's names were hidden I was never able to know whose work that was. For me, it was worth all the additional time you invested; it's a powerful image. Warmest regards, Terry

I agree with the others....no matter how you did it, its lovely!

I thiunk it is very well done and wonderful art - like some of the others said it matters little to me (and most people) how it was created (interesting yes, important... not so much). The end result is what matters and you have done well. "cheat" - an interesting word. I think it is only a cheat, if you try and pass it off as something it is not. Digital Art, and its many variation is an art on to itself (IMHO) rick

i have to agree that even though this is not painted, it's a beautiful piece of work, and does show a lot of technique in postworking. well done.
