Pianta erbacea annuale originaria del bacino del Mediterraneo.
In Italia si trova ovunque, spontanea o naturalizzata, dalla pianura fino a 1.000 m.
Caratteri botanici
E’ una erbacea annuale con fusti eretti, ramificati, alti fino a 50 cm. Le foglie sono opposte, spicciolate ovato-bislunghe, a volte bollose. I fiori generalmente bianchi (o rosei) sono riuniti in spighe suddivise in singoli verticilli. Fiorisce da giugno ad agosto.

Uses
It 's a herbaceous annual with stems erect, branched, up to 50 cm high. The leaves are opposite, oblong-ovate piecemeal, sometimes blistering. The flowers generally white (or pink) are grouped in spikes divided into individual whorls. It blooms from June to August.

Beautiful Borage. It grows and seeds happily here in NZ also. All parts are edible, including the flowers. They have a cucumber flavour, and a cooling effect. The hairy stems and leaves should first be strained through a fine sieve, as the hairs are very sharp, and could get lodged in the lungs or digestive system. Candied borage flowers are a real treat. This is a wonderful photo, showing another quality of this plant: it attracts bees, and thus contributes to the fertilisation of crops, and the manufacture of honey.

Ché fiore spettacolare, il colore dell'azzurro è qualcosa I don' la t pensa I' la VE veduta mai. Assomiglia ad una farfalla. L'ospite sembra goderlo pure, pehaps che rimangono più lungamente di la sua riunione del polline richiede. Così composizione bella. Foto meravigliosa. La amo. What a spectacular flower, the color of blue is something I don't think I've ever seen. It looks like a butterfly. The guest seems to be enjoying it as well, pehaps staying longer than his pollen gathering requires. Such a lovely composition. Wonderful photo. I love it.

Beautiful image! It looks like it is from another planet with those dark blue fingers reaching for the bee. The petals look like wings in flight or fabric billowing in the wind. Excellent contrast of textures in the flower! The leaves and stem are bristling with protective sharp hairs, while the blossom softly lies open to the bee. Excellent dof and color! Bella immagine! Sembra che proviene da un altro pianeta con quelle dita blu scuro portata per l'ape. I petali sembrano ali in volo o tessuto ondeggianti al vento. eccellente contrasto di texture in fiore! Le foglie e fusto sono irti di peli di protezione taglienti, mentre il fiore è aperto al piano ape. Ottima dof e colore! Buona giornata
