Description

Nippon (Japan) isn't all about Geisha and kimono, you know! It has lots of interesting and funky fashions, which often get adopted into the US within one to five years by fashion-forward individuals! One fashion that hasn't really taken off (possibly for the better) is the Ganguro or Yamanba look. A Japanese friend tells me it may have started with girls wanting to look like the Caucasian ideal, Malibu Barbie, and quickly progressed into a unique form of self expression and rebellion. The look captured my attention several years ago, and I tried unsuccessfully to translate it to Poser. As my skills improved, I tried several variants, and this is my latest attempt with Aki. There are subtle and extreme versions, and Aki is wearing one somewhere in between, blending a bit of individual looks that I like. She never has been one to be dictated to. ;) For more information, check out http://fashionrevue.com/2009/09/04/japan-street-fashion-ganguro/
