Dolls have always scared me... and this is no exception: the claustrophobia and anguish I get watching his head like captured in stones with that 2 dimensioned flowers almost celebrating death is freaky, and empowered perfectly by the texture. Thanx for the shiver, scary one, but good to feel it anyway :)

I agree with gallimel, this image is scary. It seems to evoke long lost memories that are not good and sunny. The texture underline the feeling. It is a strong image from long ago.

Bev, VERY invoking memory wise. The use of the doll sends mixed signals to the old brain center (actually to the brain stem area) that run rather disturbingly around and around. I think for me it is the position of the dolls limbs (the one seems pinned under a board) and the way it seems to plead with its eyes to be rescued or at the very least "picked up". (more back at the forum...)

Very emotionally disturbing image. It captures the very essence of memory-- beautiful and grotesque, happy and melancholy, etc. The image of something that has long ago died and yet is still alive, not wanting to be forgotten.

The doll is clearly discarded, abandoned, forgotten, but the expression on the doll's face, and the plucked flower seem to suggest there were many good times prior to the current time. Well done, Bev!

Gosh Bev, I missed this when you posted it (as usual), but I had to comment late anyway. I looked at this for a long time. To me, it's so sad; something from the past that was so wonderful, now abandoned and forgotten, but the good memories live on. Sounds kind of silly, but that's what I felt. Great job. You got a lot out of that doll!

I like how you can turn normal subjects that are supposed to bring joy into somewhat melancholic beings, coated with a sense of despair.

This is the twisted clutch and pain, naivity, and layered, forbidden and untended hopes and dreams and all the conflicting emotions I imagine might have been part of my birthmother's experience during all of my years. I kept thinking of that throughout much of your "doll decay" series. Really interesting images. ty!
