Ano smiled at Joshua. "Yes, but most of the people there are girls. And what do the signs say that some of them are holding? They all say the same thing." Kirk's face turned red. Peenk laughed when she saw this. "Oh, this should be good! What do they say Joshua Kirk?" He looked her in the eyes. "Joshua! Let me have your babies!" "Are you serious?" The Duros Biss asked. "Hell yeah, I'm serious. I mean, they didn't mean it. It was all in fun." Joshua said with a laugh. "But almost every girl you see there is one of my sister's friends. Some were there when I swore the oath to my sister. But by the end of lunch, all her friends knew about it. And by the end of the day, every damn girl at the academy knew!" Joshua turned to Peenk. "Undeniable truth number one in the Family: nothing gets a woman of the Family hotter than seeing a man they view as a protector. Nothing! Not chocolate. Not flowers. Not even these pheromones!" He said holding up his arm. "And I learned that lesson that day. Every Soldier and General girl threw themselves at me! And a few of the Klingon girls as well! Though they scared the hell out of me!" "Why did they scare you?" Melee asked. "I thought you liked Klingon women." "I do. And Andorians. And Romulans, and Humans, and Cerinians, and Furrene." He said smiling. "It's just that the Klingon girls coming through the Academy were sixteen, seventeen. Some of them were almost twice as tall as I was!" "And I bet you took advantage of your popularity, didn't you?" Ano said with a grin. "Absolutely not!" He told her. "The rule about sexual contact for the Family at the Academy, is that we can only have sex with someone our age. But since I was so much younger than the others in my class, I was allowed to have sex with Soldiers and Generals in their first year." Biss stared at Joshua in disbelief. "You were having sex at the age of twelve?" "Don't make the mistake of thinking I'm a normal human, because I'm not. My people are born addicted to sex. It kicks in when we hit puberty. I was having it several months by the time I got into the Academy." "It sounds like a cruel thing nature did to you." Biss said. "Nature nothing!" Kirk said, suddenly angry. "My people were originally created to be slave soldiers. Just like this Grand Army of the Republic! The addiction, we call it the Need, was given to us to guarantee our masters a steady supply of killers. And we were given these powerful pheromones so that we would have no trouble attracting mates." "How long can you go without sex Joshua?" Kinna asked curiously. "Soldiers and Generals can go three weeks without before the pain sets in. I can't even go ten days." Tears suddenly welled up in his eyes as Joshua stared down the passage to Baby's cabin where Magenta was keeping her company along with Tek'Mal. "That's what Cynthia and that little girl will have to look forward to in life. Being controled by an addiction forced on them hundreds of years ago by power mad men and women." Shaking his head sadly, Joshua turned back to Melee "I know you are the only observant person in the room Melee, so ask Metla the question you're dying to ask her."
