Description

Lady Mordrine was out in the woods, kilometers from the lands of her father, Arch-Duke Kenrick, scouting the area after having made her main camp on the edge of these very woods. She and Buttress, her massive Mastiff hunting dog, were looking around in hopes of finding which direction the best herds of Elk could be found. So far she had not found anything in this direction and was about to turn and go further North when she saw exactly what she had been hoping for. Not 300 meters away, at the base of a medium size cluster of pine trees, was 5 or 6 of the largest Elk she had ever seen. She had been looking at Buttress and all of the sudden his little, cropped ears stood full up and being curious she looked in the direction his piggish nose was pointing and there they were. Now she had the decision on whether to try for a long bow shot or go back to her camp for materials to make traps to snare them by their magnificent legs. If she stayed and tried with her bow she might hit one or two and would be in for a long chase till they dropped but if she went back she might not even find these Elk again for days. She decided that to take down one or two meant she could still find the rest of the herd in a day or so and clubbed down from her morse to sneak closer. She motioned to Buttress to lay low and he obeyingly dropped to the dirt and held his place. A half hour later she had tracked the first of the Elk she had hit with an arrow and had killed it, hung it from a large Oak tree limb and slit it's throat to bleed it and now was off to track down the other Elk she had also hit. She called Buttress and he came right away. She could not wait to show her Father what she was capable of as a hunter. He had always wanted a Son and now she would show him she was as capable as any boy child he might have had.

I don't know why but any time I use plant props they seem to take so long to render.. Oh well, I like the final outcome anyway... hope you find it to your liking as well... this will be the last picture till after the weekend I think.. Time to get something else done for a day or two.. lots of stuff to do at the "Fleeman Estate"... Lord Fleeman has to work just like anyone else or Lady Fleeman will bop him in his skull bone.... hehehehe

Beautiful, vibrant colours. Issue with the render times may be combination of transparency maps on the plant props and raytracing (and IDL, if you use it). I often face it with transmapped hair. Try making the plant props invisible to raytracing and see if that improves the situation. You won't get shadows from them, but in this image I don't think that would be noticable.
