Description

Parkdale......one of our local beaches. I always find the stillness before a storm quite eerie. Most of the beach-goers had left already, which was a little premature! The storm didn't hit for 2 more hours! The dark patches on the sand is dead seaweed from the last storm, and FYI the rock in the water to the right is Seagull Rock. It's made of sandstone, and is about the size of a small 1 bedroom flat! As a kid we were all told that it was hollow and the stingrays used it for their meetings! Hmmmm I wonder? I skin dive around it often, and as yet am still not able to find the elusive front door! I do see rays as big as cars all the time though. They really are beautiful and I don't feel at all threated. The more I swim with them the more I think how terribly unlucky Steve Irwin was. It must have just been a terrible accident. Rays only launch their barb if they are 100% sure they are in danger. The reason is that it takes them a whole year to grow another one. They would never knowingly leave them self defenseless for an entire year unless they believed they had to. I always carry a spear gun, but it virtually never gets discharged. It sounds a bit silly but I rarely fish with the gun as it's just too easy and not sporting IMHO. I'm a big softeeee when it comes to fishing! I always put most things I catch back anyway. I carry it just in case I get hassled by the men in grey suits (AKA sharks...AKA INSURGENTS!!!)......and thats never happened either!

I never worried about swimming in the ocean when I was young, however now I some times wonder if I was just lucky ? Your beach always looks so clean and well kept. Great Picture !

This is just the most amazing shot--your panos are always good, but wow, you outdid yourself this time!! I can't get close to my beach during a storm, the waves wash over the road and make it impassable. But I sure can see what happens!! I love the things we were told as kids, you always just wonder.....

Are you asking if the same piece of beach has been cloned and used twice? If so, no. These are simply photos taken side by side and then joined. There is no need to use any section twice! Doing this would make the project extremely difficult and time consuming, like a jig saw puzzle that doesn't match up! If I added more beach, for example, the sky would then not match up!

Wonderful Pano captured by you my friend. I like the way that you made the rounding in the beach your center point. It is a beautiful beach my friend. I wouldn't mind to be there to enjoy to jump into the water. The storm clouds also adds an extra dimension to this pano.

I grew up on the beach too, and there was a huge rock that was partially visible at low tide. It was called Devil's Rock, and I always thought the gate to Hell was near the bottom. One day there was a HUGE minus tide, and my dad and I walked out there. (I was about five years old.) Imagine my disappointment at not seeing Satan peeking out from under that rock!! Thanks for the memory! :) Did I remember to mention how much I enjoyed this pano? It's remarkable. Beautiful work!
