There are things
I just can’t explain
That are driving me crazy
When I dream
The world is in living color
But when I am awake
The world looks black and white
And mostly shades of grey
People care so little about so much
And care so much about so little
Everything is mine and me and I
We are passing laws
To make beggars leave
No one wants to solve the problem
They just don’t want to see
The rich get richer
The poor get poorer
And the great puppeteers
Use fear and hope
To keep everyone in place
But the thing that is driving me insane
The thing that is crushing my brain
Is that I cannot see things their way
And I cannot make them see things my way

Exactly how I feel Randy...if someone would just step up and take responsibility for their actions and admit to their mistakes instead of trying to cover up or put blame else where...gosh what a start that would be...I dont see a very bright future because of these situations...and like you I dont know how to make them see the right way to turn. I kick myself all the time for bringing four innocent kids into this stupid world.

Ok, first of all, what do you mean 'going'? I've seen those pictures you took in the snow. I think the 'going train' has left the station! Second, the Buddhists say that you cannot fight evil in the world, only within your own heart and thereby become an example. I have a young friend I've been working on and everyday I see progress. Little by little, one person at a time. Third, fantastic writing and very true.

The following is a quote from J Rufus Fears, a history professor who has a lecture availiable from the Teaching Company called Wisdom of History: "Freedom, which Americans believe is longed for by people worldwide, is not a globally shared value. By contrast, desire for power, whether wielded as a despot, or as a benevolent empire or superpower, is a universal value." It is this desire for power that has brought and continues to bring endless suffering in the world. Excellent poem! I agree with Mark on his second and third point. (OK maybe a little on his first point too ;->) Very insightful and well written poem!
