Description

I did this image as a Tip of the Hat to all my friends here on Renderosity for all the wonderful support and prayers over the last couple of weeks with all the medical problems in my family. Thanks to all of you you are the greatest! I also wanted to play around a little bit with the lighting. I wanted this one to have a little bit of a steampunk theme, so I brought the Old Factory back out. The cutie tipping her steampunk hat is Dina by Wonderdesign. I dont know if shes available any longer I believe she was a clearance item when I downloaded her. I played around with the lighting quite a bit on this one. I cant remember how many times I moved lights, added lights, removed lights, changed lights from infinite to spot, or spot to infinite. I wanted to accentuate the texture of the old gears in the background. I also modified the mats for the gears a bit in Photoshop to make it look like they were once a bright red, but have corroded and the red paint has flaked off over time. I also added a couple florescent lights behind Dina. About the only real postwork I did on this image was to add the rusty old gear leaning against the pipe. Ive been making some Photoshop brushes using old gears out of copy machines, laid on my scanner, then fiddled with in Photoshop. When I finally get them done, Ill put them in the freebies area. It felt really good to have a little time of calm to be able to get back to playing with Poser again. Thanks again to everyone for all your support! Thanks for all the wonderful comments, ratings and faves on my last image! I really appreciate it!

Lookin' good Rod. I always appreciate hearing you describe what you've done in an image of yours. Sounds like you enjoyed putting this render together. I like the steam punk theme...it is a bit hard to describe this genre without a good example. Well done!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOW Rod!! Thanks for the tip of the hat but, seriously, none is required. That's what friends do - look out for one another. This is SERIOUSLY GOOD! Those textures on the gears came out exactly as your described intent - old red-flaked. The lighting is superb! LOL - I do that ALL THE TIME - loading lights, test render, adjust angles, test render, load new lights, test render. LOL. Always looking for that perfect look. In the end, you nailed the lighting in this. Came out great. It works well with the entire scene - model environment and all. Love those shadows. They really add depth to the image. That little gear you did has great textures too! Excellent! OSHA would have a fit about those huge, unguarded gears on the back wall though - LOL. Someone would really get minced up if they got in there! LOL! Excellent work on this my friend. Glad you had a little play time. I've missed seeing your artwork.
