Description

Southern Russia 1943. A pair of early Tiger 1 tanks from the command element of a heavy tank battalion sit quietly while the commanders of the Tiger Battalion and the commander of the supporting Panzer Grenadier Regiment survey the terrain over which they will advance tomorrow. This turned out to be an exercise in seeing just how far you can push Vue7 before it takes a powder. One more soldier and poof! Credits: Tank commander uniforn and Panzer Grenadier uniforms courtesy of adh3d here at Rendo in the store. Mike3 for two soldiers and James filled in for the rest. The vehicles were modified from some that came off the web quite a few years ago and I lost the original makers. I use the term modified rather loosely here as by the time I got done modifying them I had rebuilt the Tiger completely and the halftrack almost completely except for the tracks and tools. Done in Wings3D. Comments welcome (if you don't dig military stuff that's OK, you can comment on the grass or something) ;)

Very nicely done. I don't know if I'd say I was " into " the military thing, but I've had a lot of family in the Service. Also, as a history buff WW2 remains interesting. Nice job.

The optimism reveals fury that will harken to dispair. I don't have any real heads up and heads on mottos or slogans to fit beyond the German Plains except for a brief incursion into Czechoslavakia so I'm viewing this through the eyes of some German books I read on Panzer only a few years ago. They mostly were for tank on tank Jagdpanzer in winter in and near little villages so this out on the steppes stuff takes me to the Mongol Horde and Genghis Khan. Defense in depth over huge distances is still a specialty only of the Americans and Russians with maybe the Australians in reserve. Where are the bolts and arrows and the ques flying in the wind off horses? The burnished round shields with pointed centers and hats to match tied like turbans?

An excellent wartime scene! The morning light and atmosphere of calm with a storm coming are great.
