Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I wonder who that someone is? I can hear the chants calling you back. A dream will come true soon I'm sure. The Ohi'a tree and the Lehua flower. Legends says that if you pick the Lehua flower, it will rain. That particular pit crater in the back of this tree is Halemaumau that lies within Kilauea crater and usually refered to as the home of Pele. Nice capture. Aloha

I read Sharky's comment:-) How cool that its referred to as Pele's home! I have never been to Hawaii but I sure understand the longing to go to such a lovely and interesting place...I feel the same about the forests and mountains in Washington state. Hope you get to go soon:-) Lovely capture Marilyn!

Seldom do I find florals around craters to be so attractive but Hawaii has some really special things happening there.

Capital clarity and light/shadow effects in this foto of a plant and crater that I don't know or remember anything about. I probably have pictures of the plant that were taken in one or more of the several biological gardens that I have visited.

WOW! I like this immensely. I have no idea what it is, but it's gorgeous! I suspect you could start a whole series of shots involving things growing in a Hawaiian crater! I love the rich colors and the way everything seems so riotously alive. I can only imagine how glorious it all must smell! This is superb. I wish Chicago had craters with things growing in them...well...we do, only they're potholes in parking lots, though a few of them are deep enough to become volcanic if they happen to erode down to a layer of magma...but somehow, that's a bit different than an authentic dead (or napping) volcano.
