This could be so many things, the first that I thought was that it was starship .. visitors from some other reality who have broken through the barriers that keep each reality separate from the next. Then I wondered if perhaps it is a shield. Perhaps it is magical and protects the being who possesses it from all manner of evil from swords to nightmares .. from evil thoughts to evil acts .. It is a beautiful and magical thing, no matter what it is.
