Description
Pavonis on the left; Arsia on the right. I'm ashamed to say that I still haven't found the name of the crater in the middle. How would you like to see this scene out your windshield?

Here again I am amazed by the accuracy. Of course I like the curvature of the planet and the tiny atmosphere. How long does it take to calculate this scene in terragen ?

Thanks to a nice tax return & a Pentium 4 2.4 gHz machine, it took about 20 minutes to render. Of course, I try to do the terrains at 4097. I also have to calculate the width of the terrain in meters. 3Dem doesn't give terrain width directly, but you can figure it out.

so what was your method for getting the DEM into Terragen? And what about the surface map. By the way, I'd love to see something in space, like the Earth (if its the moon) or a moon (if its Mars). Sorry, I'm not too space literate, tho i wish i were

ftp://ltpftp.gsfc.nasa.gov/projects/tharsis/MOLA/GRIDS/ has some hi-res elevation maps of Mars. Look for the Megt. files. They are BIG, so have a fast connection. You will need 3Dem to read them. 3Dem can then save them as Terragen scenes.
