Description

This is a dedi for my friend Leon - I know how you love Egyptian history and mythology, so this one's for you my friend. Hi Guys! I have been thinking about creating Bast the Egyptian cat goddess, and how I see her for a very long time, and am so pleased to finally present her to you. The cat I used was my Mistapus, only hope he doesn't find out he has now become a goddess LOL. The body is one from the alfheim set by folkvangar, credits below. Bast the sacred Egptian cat goddess, is often seen carrying the Sistrum (the sacred musical intrument) and that is what you see in her right hand. I just wanted you all to know I made this one with bits and bobs, and am really pleased with how it turned out. For more information regarding Bast here are a couple of sites for you - http://www.egyptartsite.com/bast.html www.moggies.co.uk/bastet/baster.html http://www.egyptianmyths.net/sistrum.htm I would like to thank you Veronica for the inspiration in all the clothes I created for Bast, using your HPclothes and also alfeim clothes, but putting my own twist on them all, hope you like what I did. (Veronica's website and store (www.folkvangar.com) Thank you everyone for the support of The Cheshire Cat and Alice, it is so appreciated. I am uploading over the next few weeks more pics of Bast and the first is soon as she appears as a spirit - the pic includes a wizard painted from a stock photo, and Amy cat too, so hope you will enjoy that. Take good care of yourselves everyone hugs Jane xx Shd stock www.deviantart.com for the bowl with eye of Ra Drakenborgs 3DigitalStock www.deviantart.com - background. Awesome image! 5 plus! And the story is great too. The whole creation is beautiful, but the texture of the two small companions really struck me as amazing! It's like they're begging to be touched. The colors are just puurrrrfect (I know-that's an old one) also. Thank you for sharing!

I make it a point to never tell cats that they have divine attributes. Once they get that in their heads, they start demanding extra food, or they find even more clever ways of sitting on a keyboard as you're typing. As always, I find your work continually refreshing and bright. As a trivia fact, Bast is one of my favorite ancient goddesses. From research way back in the dark ages (the 1980s I think) I learned that since ancient Egyptians didn't represent vowel sounds in their writing, there's some debate as to how Bast's name is pronounced. We know that the "t" on the end indicates her gender/sex, but it's also likely that her name might be something along the lines of Ubastyyat, pronounced "Oo-bahst-ee-yot", and well...leave it to a cat to keep something like her true name a mystery: I have it on good authority (from a cat, no less) that this is a common feline habit...they omit information simply because "everyone" already knows that. Of course "everyone" only includes the feline population. Oh well...enough of that. This is a marvelous image, full of your trademark grace and attention to detail. I love a sistrum made from "bits and bobs." And it turned out quite well. This is great work!

This is so sweet Jane, I love it and love the story of Bast. I love the beautiful color you chose for her, I think she is purr-fect! Thank you so much for your visit today, I am so behind that I am embarrassed to upload...guess it can't be helped but I so miss being here on time for your personal brand of beauty and story! I don't know if you have Mothers Day there but if so I hope it was a happy one! You know this has to go into my favs and btw, I love the icon too! You also are in my thoughts and prayers! I hope things mellow out enough soon so I can write a letter to see how things are with you. Hope all is going well with your mom! Hugs! Lynn
