Description

On this shoot out, I took over 400 plus pictures. A few good ones and a few to the waste bin. On a cloudy day its best, no shadows or reflection. The clouds act as a big light diffuser. Getting close to the lava is hot, you'd probably singe the hair off your legs. Shooting from right above, I'm glad I got my eyebrows still in tack. But getting in a hole and shooting eye level is cooler. You just have to remind yourself to get out of that hole in time before the lava comes in. Will post some at eye level shots later. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

Another nice one Errol and great point about cloudy days. They are great for nice even tonalities without blown highlights and shadows (unless you shoot the sky itself). Have you ever conisdered a zoom lense for this type of photography?!? ;'D

Yes, being sure that lava isn't headed your way sounds like great advice!! I am, for one, astounded you still HAVE eyebrows with all these lava shots you get--lol!!

I really would love to know how many pairs of shoes you go through; or do you get specialized shoes for these hikes? I've been in some shady places taking pics but I don't think I got the minerals to hop in a hole with lava heading straight for me...lol! Can't wait to see the eye level shots. As always, excellent work boss!

"you'd probably singe the hair off your legs" reminds me of a walk in Baghdad, heat from above and also from ground! for you the clouds are good but for the lava it doesn't matter! ;o)
