Description
I found this tree on my 40th birthday when I went on a journey to do some soul searching. I sat on a piece of driftwood that was close by. Many people passed by without noticing it. My husband commented that he thought it was ugly. I thought it was striking.

A bit gnarled and windswept! A great shot!

I like it. Trees never give up till they are dead and I bet despite its precarious predicament that this baby has a good few years to go. What changes has it witnessed on its vigil? Clearly much give how old and well structured are its roots, it's whole environment has changed radically in its lifetime.

I love the light and the golden sand how it makes the photo come to life.

Since I just discovered your gallery (and I'm a fan!) I thought it best to come back to where it all started. What a picture. I'm a science fiction geek and the roots and that odd sort of "eye" immediately made me think of some wise, old (not exactly "cute") alien creature just going about its business while you sat there. The mood of this is fascinating, and those roots are just amazingly detailed. This is a rich photo: very, very nice.
