Apparently when the US was colonized, the English saw the North America Robin (Turdus migratorius) and named it after the English Robin because of it's red breast. The North American Robin is a migratory songbird and belongs to the Thrush family. American Robins and English Robins are not closely related.
These guys are about 12 days old .. give or take a day or two. This was taken three years ago. Last year they nested between the downspout from the gutter and the house, and this year there is a nest directly under my kitchen window!
Thanks so much for the wonderful response to the last post on Bumblebees! Your comments are so much appreciated! thank you for the many faves as well.

I have a nest in my tree but for some reason the baby birds just hatched fail out of the nest and of course my dog Eve had to kill them.they would have died anyway, but I hate it excellent shot and beautiful birds

Such a cozy little nest for such soft and vulnerable little creatures. I love how the colors all blend together with their natural surroundings for safety. What a wonderful shot!

Aww very cute. On the other hand, I've got a nest of something similar in my backyard, and those little guys do NOT shut up when they're hungry. Can't wait for them to fly away...
