Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Really fantastic capture! Certainly the most powerful elements of nature brought together in perfect harmony.

Great capture Marilyn this looks great, seeing the destructiveness and beauty at the same time. The lehua flower reminds me of our New Zealand Christmas tree the Pohutakawa tree's flower. It can be seen at the following address.. http://www.new-zealand-pictures.co.nz/data/media/9/pohutukawa-tree_1902.jpg Excellent posting!!

Oh, oh, I hope the Seattle authorities have been warned about what is about to descent on their fair city. BTW - great shot.

do look wondful contrast of one that can destroy and the other one just looks so lovely. adventures to put the soul into another rim. To bring the mind ideas it never had before. adventures to put friendships on the right paths and if you see a golden road do follow it to the green city

How did I miss this!? I guess there's such a thing as brain flatulence after all. Must have been a doozie. Anyway, WOW! You were standing that close to an active crater? WOW! Impressive: both you and the flower. I happen to love volcanoes (except when they ground air traffic like a certain culprit who shall remain nameless has done.) And what you've done here is nothing less than spectacular. This is a marvelous and stirring shot.
