Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Ha... Let me think.... Left or right... Hmmmm.... Well, let me not be the judge! I love the result Bill... Keep on reading and then right tutorials... Hehehe... Great shot!

.. reading is very good for the brain:)
Faemike55
Fantastic capture! Great results here! I've got the book, 'Drawing on the right side of the brain' Which, if you really read the title literally, that would hurt!
beachzz
Or no brain??? Sometimes that's how I shoot!! lol Great shot, no matter which side you used!!
helanker
I can only agree with Marilyn :-))) I too often shoot without thinking. so I dont know what side I was using :-) I just know for sure, this photograph is excellent to me and I like it.
durleybeachbum
I'm mainly right brain myself, that's why I like point and shoot and bin or save. I've got the same book as Mike, haven't read it through as I need to use the left side to do it!
lyron
Very cool image!!
jendellas
Well I just point & shoot & hope for the best :o) So I guess Bill you didn't get up till dinner time then :o) Seriously though, I think this a fabulous right/left, love the fact that the fan is on!!!!!
alessimarco
Both? Nice capture and story!
jayfar

Well, one thing's for sure - you've definitely proved the addage that when there's 'nothing to photograph' you just need to open your eyes! A ceiling fan - brilliant!! The warm color of the fan's light contrasted with the blue daylight in the lower left makes it really pop! And of course, the blurred fan blades just add to the interesting abstract patterns of light. A simple appliance you can find in almost any home - turned into art. Like I said - brilliant!

Sound pretty right brained to me. Clever shot, how did you keep the noise so low at such a high ISO? By the way I don't go in for all that right brain/left brain stuff. I've mastered no brains photography :)
goodoleboy
Excellent capture and narrative in this presentation, Bill. Really like the effects in this one. Other than postwork, most of my stuff is 30 percent left brain and 70 percent right brain.

Well Bill some times its the No Brainer shots that turn out the best lol.. Like some shots you don't have time to think, the thing happens so fast and its point and shoot lol I have quite a lot of those.. Nice shot of the fan well done!!
npauling
I'm not sure what side you are using here but it makes a great conversational piece.
jocko500
hurt my brains lol. it going from left to right then right to left.,trying to make up it mind. me! do it matter as long as the shot is good.
kbrog
Great capture and subject matter! Or is that gray matter? ;)
MrsRatbag
Got me, but I like the shot ;)

You caught 'Prop Blur!' Can I get prop blur, not matter how much I fiddle on mine....no! The only way so far, is to take it of Auto and for aircraft and the like, forget it.... No chance! My camera, I suspect is a 'very user friendly' model... But, has its disadvantages..Mmmmm! At least I have now gotten a little now.. You have done really well though Bill.. Great work for a on the spot (or back) shot! lol Rob

very beautiful!! Right brain / left brain... depends also on culture. For instance we (the Westerners) perceive the sound of a waterfall using our left part of our brain because we think of it as a natural phenomenon. The Japanese, on the contrary, perceive the sound of a waterfall more with the right part of their brain because they conceptualize it as an artistic element. In very machist countries usually men use more the left part of their brain than women.
auntietk
As long as you are analysizing something, you're using your left brain. So I bet you took the picture on the right, and everything since then has been moving toward the left! You have to be careful about that whole moving-to-the-left thing! LOL!
kenmo
Left vs right side of the brain sounds as insteresting as right vs left in politics....LOL... Excellent experiment....

Umm... I don't know ... you see, I left the right-side of my brain attached to a stump... I would go with the right side – for seeing the image in the first place. How many times have you got home and wondered why you took a particular shot? Your left brain trashes it until you have little else to submit - and then you are astounded by the complimentary comments you receive. Because you just took it without analysing every pixel. Anyway, just my left-side talking – you know where the right one is! I love the shot and all of the comments – you have created a fair bit of reflection on the matter! Clive

what a fascinating infomation and shot, Bill, hmmm I guess I am a thouroughly a rightbrainer..lol... not only when taking shots, but also when making renders or modelling with clay...
dbrv6
lol Fun Bill. I will let you decide.
Richardphotos
very creative shot. I usually shoot what I find interesting and a few times I actually plan something but I like the spur of the moment better.
flora-crassella
very cool picture!!! = left AND right!!!!!
MagikUnicorn
COOL SHOT I NEED AIR :)

What a shot! I definitely get the vibe it's a right brained shot even if there is all sorts of information you can relay in the appropriate dialect of technobabble. It's funny how so much of art is actually both and it's only the artist's expression of it that side-dominant. This is marvelously colored and intriguing. The spinning fan blades almost look like moth's wings. Super! I wish I had interesting stuff where I lived...my ceiling's boring!
