Description

Yes I like snails too, just not the killer snails, that eat all my garden, but this fellow is rather cute and we have many of them. Bigger than a walnut. This fellow was not very cooperative, but with a little water he seemed to wake up :-) ZOOMing you will see its smile. ;-) Have a lovely sunday. It seems that the weather will be lovely today. Sun is shining and it is getting warmer. I guess it must be garden weather. SIGH! Thank you so much for viewing and kind comments to my previous post and special warm thanks go to those, who added it to their favorites. :)

He has a very ridged shell when seen so close..do you think it could be a sign of rheumatism?! LOL! A marvellous detailed pic! I've never been able to bring myself to eat snails, although I used to be quite keen on the sea variety..winkles for example. We had a bit of real rain overnight, and they said it would pour all day, but at this moment the sun is out!

Excellent shot, fantastic details. Of these snails, there are also many in our area. There are people who eat them. That's not for me.

oh yep I like them too and you got it in a fine portrait, Helle. What keeps me wondering is why they tends to go into terrain which doesn't fit them well, so I found a little one on the dry concrete in the garage at my parents place today...outside it was nice for her and raining, but she kept on going to the dry side...

I absolutely refuse to eat snails! They're just slugs with a house. LOL! This is a great shot, though! :)

I love snails and slugs! They're incredibly cute. Did you know that they have teeth on their tongues? They rip your garden plants to shreds by licking them, and if you catch a few of them and feed them lettuce, you can hear the ripping. I like gastropods quite a lot (Snails and slugs) but that's because I don't have a giant salad...um...I mean garden for them to invade. I love the details, that skin texture is amazing, and I love the details of the snail-face. You seldom get to see such a lovely closeup! I love this image!

Helle your photography of this critter is superb in detail and sharp in focus. I've never seen one in this close up condition. Seems I am one of the few here that just loves to eat them...but prefer escargots au beurre d'ail (in butter sauce no less):-)

Wonderful capture! I love watching them as their tentacles move about. Excellent detail! I've never eaten snails. As I've gotten older, I've become much less finicky regarding the food I eat, but I still draw the line at slimy. I don't care for snails, raw oysters or okra (very bad for a southern born girl).
