The change of the beautiful woman of the Edo era on ukiyoe. 1765 Harunobu(鈴木 春信) depict the pretty woman of 7 bodies with slim neck and small lips. after 20 years 1785. Kiyonaga(鳥居 清長) depict the elegant woman of 10 bodies, with mouth corner up and thick eyebrows. after 10 years 1795, Utamaro(喜多川 歌麿) depict the glamor of 8 bodies with plump breast. after 30 years 1825, Eisen(渓斎 英泉) depict decadence-like woman of 6 bodies with mongoloid eye and protruding lower lip and jaw. The version by Fujiko-san is by far the best. But historically I like Suzuki but I have seen verions of Keisai that I think are better. But thank you for this historical comparison to affirm my choice.

Well, while they are all very lovely in their own right, I'm going to have to go along with the crowd on this one! The lovely lady created by the most excellent modern Japanes artist Fujiko-san is my favorite! Wonderful work as always, and the look into the culture of Japan is most interesting.
