Looks like a very large spider egg sack. Nice shot. Dana

...and the winner is... DANA ;) Indeed it is a spider egg sack! First time we had such big stuff around here. During several years, we were infested by an alien {from another continent} species of planthopper, and they attracted BIG spiders. These weaved their webs between the tomato-plants in my garden, and feasted upon the planthoppers. In autumn, they also weaved those extremely elaborated sacks, tying them up the drying tomatoes. I did not witness the process... should have been something highly interesting. Anyway, nothing else around able to do the same. Now... any idea about the "Aliens in my garden #1" ?

I'm seeing your gallery in reverse, and so I know it's an egg case for an intriguing breed of spider...but oh well...it's still a marvelous picture. The silk-sheen really strikes me. It's so well captured, and well...knowing that this little silken purse is full of developing spiderlings is quite intriguing for me. I happen to like spiders quite a lot...but then I like anything with 6, 8, 14, 24, or 48 legs...and any number of legs I've failed to mention. Marvelous work and I'm happy to have discovered your gallery.
