Description

This morning my HOSTA got eaten....AGAIN!!! Sorry for the bad quality, but it is taken through the window behind a plant in a hurry. I think I am going to install a big HONK! machine to yell at this intruder, when he tries to eat my flowers. No matter what I do, he comes and eat my hosta just before it blooms. I am getting tired of it. I never get to see my hosta in bloom. GRRR! I wish you a wonderful day. Sun was shining when i woke up, but now it is cloudy and it is cold outside.. only 7C = 45F. Thank you so much for viewing and kind comments to my previous post and special warm thanks go to those, who added it to their favorites. :)

I wonder if spraying the plants with Hot Pepper spray would help deter the deer?

I think it's a wonderful capture Helle and how lucky you are to have such an adorable little visitor and be able to capture her so well. Sorry about your lovely flowers and plants

I know how it feels. you don't know whether to love nature or whack it with a big stick! :-) Great shot. I don't have much I can offer to help. I used to lose my entire garden and the roses were gone to the trunks. I only stopped that by moving back to the city. LOL

Tobasco sauce might do the trick. He is quite cute, but not in MY garden! How maddening, Helle!

My sister-in-law on Whidbey had the same problem as you, but she solved it quite nicely! She has an outer fence that's about five feet tall, made of wire mesh. An inner fence (three feet distance between the two) just has one row of wire mesh along the top of the posts. The deer can't jump both, but you don't need inner fencing that goes all the way to the ground, either. It's attractive, and works like a charm! Let me know if you want to see pictures ... heaven knows, I've got plenty! LOL!

I have this problem with squirrels here they dig up my flowers pots and seeds. Reminds me of the movie Phenomenon, where John Travoltas character keeps staying up late at night to catch a bunny that keeps somehow making its way into his garden.... Good luck with the deer problem and yeah he is cute though.

He is rather adorable Helle but I do so understand your frustration! Maybe Tara's idea will help! She once told me about it too!

a nice scene - but bad for you and your plants! Plant Urtica dioica between them - perhaps your “guest” does not like those. With us it is also cold sooooo.

Oh my, Helle, lol... it's a sweet visitor but a bit a nasty one too, we had only foxes up here, tearing the trash bags apart and leaving a mess...

Ah...what we call Hostas, they call Salad! Woodlice like hostas too, but thankfully they don't eat as much...they just nibble the dry bits. I love this capture, and even though it's a cute little deer, it's also a crime scene photo with the criminal caught in the act. I think maybe a kind of hot pepper spray might do the trick, but Tara has a good suggestion too. At any rate, this is a great photo, and for as annoying as this little beauty is, I'm sure you'll think of something to deter such persistent little vegetarians! Great shot though!
