Description
J.T.F. = Joint Task Force Geronimo:
Comprised of elements of the Afghanistan National Police and members of the North Dakota National Guard, serving in Afghanistan 2009 - 2010. The Afghan Police, traveled in Sanyo mini buses, manufactured in South Africa.
The U.S. Army's Motor Pool, impressed with the Sanyo's durability in the mountain region, armored them up.
My Direct Care Provider, then Cpl. Forrest Wells, seen above with 2 members of the ANP, and their respective units, tasked with providing security from the Taliban in their 40 mile radius patrol area, were hit by an Improvised Explosive Device 2 days after these original pictures were taken. With now, Sgt Wells taking shrapnel wounds in the face.
Apache helicopters, providing air cover made short work of the Taliban attackers, allowing all wounded personnel to be medevacted.
Sgt. Wells sat here with me, showing me which Bryce Terrain primitives and mats were the closest to the type of terrain his outpost was locate in.
Incidentally, these pictures were taken in mid June, and there were structures 20 feet behind the Sanyo, rendered invisible by the snowfall, which lasted about 2 days.
I made this custom portrait for Sgt Wells in appreciation of his & the ND National Guard's sacrifice and service in the cause of Freedom.
Thank you for reading and viewing.
