Description
I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls,
With vassals and serfs at my side,
And of all who assembled within those walls,
That I was the hope and the pride.
I had riches too great to count, could boast
Of a high ancestral name;
But I also dreamt, which pleas'd me most,
That you lov'd me still the same,
that you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same,
that you lov'd me, you lov'd me still the same,
A Song of yearning from a little known light opera called 'the Bohemian girl' (not to be confused with La Boheme, which is an entirely different opera by Verdi.)
The entire opera is heavily laced with Victorian semtimality. Nevertheless, the melodies are pretty, and could probably stand well as an operetta perforned today, though the lyriscs aren't ecactly perfect.
