Description

Today's post is the direct result of having received an invitation to come meet Meretites, the 2,300-year-old treasure just added to the new Egyptian galleries in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. This is the top portion of Meretites inner coffin. Her name translates to, "Beloved by her father". Tara (auntietk), Heather (my oldest daughter) and I spent a full day at the Nelson last Friday. The good news for us photographers is that now, this world-class museum allows photography. The only place we could not take pictures was in one special exhibit where the museum did not own the copyrights. Everything else is free for the taking...without flash. Great catch! The contrast between her golden face and the background is outstanding; it gives the lady the right frame... And thanks for the information! We normally have the same rules in Germany as yours for photographers; some rules were worked over by judges in the moment. We photographers hope for a little bit more liberty when we take pics....

This is nice! Seems almost all museums claim copy rights to any pictures taken and in special exhibits no photography at all. :~(
