Description

Carpenter Bee: Went to a local marsh preserve last weekend. On my way out spotted this fella hovering around some plants. The sun was going down and I had to use my cheap Zoom lens for the shots. Unfortunately, to get a good shutter speed I had to go to 800 ISO. Which made a lot of noise on these shots. I did all I could to clean it up. Hope to head back there and see him again with a bit more light to get some cleaner shots. An interesting note, as I watched this bee for about 20 mins. I began to notice it had a pattern it would fly and hover in. Usually coming back to the same spot to hover over and over. Making focusing a bit easier since I was using manual focus. So cute. Thanks for looking. Bruce

Wonderful image, and isn't it amazing that they can hover at all when you look at the body size in relation to wing size. Great shot!
