Description
A large, skulking bird of thickets and hedgerows, the Brown Thrasher has one of the largest song repertoires of any North American bird. Boldly patterned, it is conspicuous when singing on its territory, but is hardly discernable during the rest of year.
The female lays 3 to 5 eggs in a twiggy nest lined with grass. The nest is built in a dense shrub or low in a tree. Both parents incubate and feed the young. These birds raise two or three broods in a year. They are able to call in up to 3000 distinct songs. The male sings a series of short repeated melodious phrases from an open perch to defend his territory and is also very aggressive in defending the nest.
This Is the Georgia state bird.

Splendid capture!!

Somehow I think in a singing contest, the Mockingbird would have to win. Nice shot of the rufous brown bird, always one of my favorites, but have not seen one in years. I love the way they "thrash" the leaves on the ground to scare out insects.

A really Georgious image (ha ha -- see what I did there?) It's a wonderful shot of the bird, and a rich medley of earth tones.
