Description

Good morning everyone. I posted this for Harry after reading his description of the Herons he had seen at a lake near him, he was explaining how the birds are really paranoid and take off when approached, I have the same experience with them out near me. This one here was a lucky shot, I went for a bike ride late Sunday afternoon, and stopped to take a quick break and get a drink, I was sitting on the bank over looking the lake watching a family of ducks play in the water, I had a camera with me but it was in a bag on my bike, and a Heron flew down right next to me I could not believe it, I look for them all the time. So I just sat there amazed and thought Damn no camera haha, so I sat and watched and well I just had to try so I got up quietly and got to my bike got the little Kodak camera I take when I go out on my bike and I knew the batteries were about shot as well, but I was able to get 4 shots before he was on to me and flew away. So Harry this ones for you, I did it in a collage type presentation in your honor sir.. LOL Hope you like it. Oh I have some big news. My daughter Jenna who is here in town this week, called me yesterday morning, to tell me she is engaged. Her fiance, Chris is in the Air Force, and his troop was sent to Chile, to help with aid after the earthquake there. We were sitting out on our back deck Sunday afternoon and I asked about his trip and he suddenly got up and walked down the stairs, and I said to Jenna did I say something wrong, and she laughed and said no you asked the right questions he's been dying to show you all his photos from his trip he went to get his laptop. So when he got back he showed me photos of the area, and of a temporary hospital they built there to replace a hospital that had been destroyed, I was amazed at all they accomplished in a three week period of being in that country. They invited me to drive out with them this afternoon to see the location where they want to hold the wedding I looked it up on line last night and it is so beautiful, I am so happy for them both. I was browsing through the gallery earlier, and wow some impressive photos in here today. Very inspiring stuff. Thanks for your comments and suggestions on my photo below. thumb_2055540.jpg

Wonderful job on this heron, Lynell. They are rather hard to approach this closely. Great news about your daughter, it sounds like you are happy with her choice!

The bird is so majestic, great graphic! I am fortunate to live close to a bird sanctuary I have always loved the look of crane family, the blue a rare glimpse of a hunter!

Beautiful birds but they are a bit of a pest around here. They eat the fish in stocked ponds. My congratulations to your daughter!
