Description
These huge trucks were amazing. This one had just dropped off a load of brown coal, and was returning down the open cut mine for more.

From this POV, it looks like a Tonka toy--but I know they're BIG!!

A huge scar on the landscape, neccesary i know but still a scar. Well seen you have captured the scope of the site really well.

Power must come from somewhere...this doesn't bother me in the least! Oh, and your photo is A-1. :)

WOW! A Tonka toy on Mars! This is stunning. Brown coal, eh? There's a city in the Czech Republic, called "Most" which means "bridge" that is known for brown coal...or is it red? I think it's the same stuff. At any rate, that was the first I'd heard of the non-black coal. I love the saturated color in this photo and the deliciously otherworldly vibe of it. Yeah, it's real, and that's what so cool about reality, it's an often unreal place! This rocks!

This is a great shot! What a vantage point too! Around here they make it very difficult to get close enough to see anything but the same trucks as yours passing into the plant. They build hills around the site before digging up the coal, then level them later. They get so much criticism from the power-using public. I've found it fairly easy to outwit their "patrol ninjas" though, so I have made it inside the wire. I found out later that my son did too, when he was creating a film that required some other-worldly shots. But he went in with crew and actors, and did get caught but he was prepared to out-talk them which he did.

I like these views of mining, my own thoughts are that it is needed an dnot unwelcome , the kit used is fascinating.

This is a great POV and Marilyn is right - it does look like a toy truck. Beautiful range of colors in these two photos. Dana
