Description
I've been working on this for maybe 3 weeks. Finally, I'm happy with this one. I've got a friend at work who is from Iran, and he told me about the compound in which he grew up. He talked about sitting on the rooftop at night reading by the light of a streetlamp in front of his house, and listening to the street noise of the town below. I kept imagining this lattice work as a barred window in the compound, and wanted to convey the impression of being inside, looking out to the lights of the night outside. Next, I'll post a prettier version that doesn't quite have the right texture or relief, but is a bit more colorful.

Ooohs and aaaaaahs .. I just LOVE this .. it conveys exactly what you wanted it to. I love the sense of wrought iron .. the feel of the streets on the outside .. if you look really closely at each of the fancy cutouts, you can see a little more .. faces peering back.. tiny little djinn, grins.
