Description

[^___^] zoom in please This baby robin landed on my back deck and was not afraid of me, I got within 8 inches of it and it just kept looking at me, As you see it still has fuzz around its head and also has a string hanging from it and must be part of the nest, baby robins are much bigger then their parents and much different breast colors then the bright orange of the parents but that does change of course. This one rested a while then flew about a hundred feet and rested on the ground as the mother bird was squawking in the distance. [^___^] Cheers, Roger

This brings back memories of baby birds I have seen over the years in my backyard learning to fly. At one time we had a lot of cats and you would think that their chances of survival would not be so good, but actually the cats were very protective, ok yes curious and would watch, over the little birdies but never tried to kill, play, eat or otherwise harm them. Not that they would not, sometimes, not often, but sometimes, catch a full grown bird to snack on. Just always seemed to leave the babies be. I think the influence of my Mom had a lot to do with that, as all animals wild and domestic (and we had lots) all seemed to get along well, often to the amazement of the neighbors.

Cute little bird and well catured by you. We had to chase a parent out of our house recently after it's natural inquisitiveness made it fly in through our open back door!

It's a good thing that "Elf" wasn't there. Unlike "Shadownet's" cats my cat would've played with it to death. What a cute baby though. Glad you got a good shot of it.
