Description

Considered by many to be the cream of English landscape gardens, Stourhead sits at the western edge of Salisbury plain. Now in the care of the National trust it is an outstanding example of the English landscape style. It was laid out between 1741 and 1745. Classical temples, including the Pantheon and the temple of Apollo were skillfully laid out around the central lake at the end of a series of vistas which change as you stroll around the estate. Beautiful mixtures of trees and shrubs ensure maximum visual impact due to skillfull siting. Best viewed in Spring and Autumn. This was taken yesterday on a perfect Spring day.

Beautiful! I love the way the temple sits in a pocket of trees. Great composition and dof with the massive tree trunk in focus in the forefront. Excellent color and reflections!
