Description
Hi Everyone, here is the second bluebird photo I took yesterday. I placed a very small insert of the actual full photo layered with this to show the crop. Some years the birds let me get closer. Maybe another time. The blue hue radiating off his back in the crop gives you an idea the shot was too far for the camera to process with this setting and lens. I am sure some here could recommend a photo program and teach me how to clean up that effect to sharpen the image. Thanks for any tips and every comment is appreciated. -GB-

Oh! He IS beautiful! An outstanding bird.. Lovely, my friend. I tried so hard to get a shot of a bluebird and an American Robin, but No! They were not playing ball.... Great one mate.. Stay well.. Rob

Wonderful capture!

I see nothing that needs improvement in this. I am also struck by the thinness of the bird. Time to beef up for the summer I would say. Fabulous work.

Excellent capture of this beautiful bird. I can relate to your problem with photographing wild birds. They just won't let me get anywhere close enough to capture cleanly with my lens. I really want a "bird" lens but I just do not see it happening in the near future - sigh, lol. In my opinion, this shot is pretty darn good for the degree of crop. I keep trying with less than thrilling results. I don't know enough about camera techniques to offer any advice there, but I do have a favorite editing program. I really like Paint Shop Pro XI or X2. I think there is even an X3 out now but I have not tried it. You should be able to find XI or X2 online for a really affordable price. The program is much much much easier to use than Adobe Photoshop (I have version 6) and does just about every thing Photoshop does - with better control. My Paint Shop Pro X2 has a 'Purple fringe" removal tool that works well, but some of my shots have cyan fringes, or green fringes, or red fringes, or - well you get the idea, lol. If you are willing to spend some time - you can clean up fuzzy edges with subtle use of smudging, pushing, and cloning tools. I sometimes also use a softening tool on non-essential background to clean up "noise" just where I want to. I enlarge the photo to 200% and use small tip tools to move individual pixels if needed. Thanks for sharing and keep shooting. Nothing helps as much as perseverance. Lee

Very nice. We had bluebirds nest out back one year. They wouldn't let me get very close either. Got a bunch of pictures but none very impressive.
