Description

In 1991 Galaxy I, one of the largest harsh-environment jackup rigs in the world, was built for Santa Fe by Keppel Fels of Singapore. Galaxy II, a $150 million, enhanced version of Galaxy I, was delivered to Santa Fe in 1998 under a five-year contract. The heavy-duty rig earned Santa Fe approximately $130,000 a day. Seen in May at Invergordon waiting for a new contract.

Pretty impressive, esp. from this perspective. Just no leaks please!

In light of the BP crude leak in our USA Gulf of Mexico, this is appropriate. Quite a nice photo. Waiting a new contract? So they undo it and tow it away?

Impressive, but I hate off shore drilling. Our oceans are already over-stressed and one leak from one of these can do irrepairable damage to that domain. ('Scuse me while I go fill up my car's gas tank.)
