Description

Bonaparte's Gull - This is a not fully mature Bonaparte's gull. The silvery sheen and pattern on it's back was beautiful to watch in flight. I didn't realize the wing feathers were translucent until I uploaded the pictures to my computer. When fully mature and breeding, this bird will have a black head. They are currently stopping off at our beaches on their way to their breeding grounds in the far North's Taiga and Boreal forests.
