This "guard" was smiling all the time, when I took this photo it had started raining and most people went for cover. He stayed by his "post" and stll managed to smile. A very happy man

Very powerful image the machine gun and the collar give the image a scene of power, and the expression and the twisted chin strap remind me that people are human!

Great shot!

I know Nothing !!!! great shot
T.Rex
Great image with one flaw - a grease gun instead of the expected Schmeisser submachine gun. However, I love the stark contrast between the SS parapernalia and his expression. Well made photo. Keep up the good work! :)

LOL!!! Willpee had the same thought I did! This brought back memories of watching Hogan's Heroe's and the guard Schultz. Yes, I know nothing!!! Nice shot!!!

I appears many of us are victims of 1960's TV, I too thought about Schultz. Wonderful photo!!

Ha, great photo... instantly reminded me of Sgt Shutlz ...but that looks like a Sten gun he is carrying... must have nicked it??
Faemike55
Yep! Sargent Schultz and Col Klink! Great schot!

T.Rex, that is a Sten, not a "Grease Gun"! Great capture! My pickiness shows, but not at the photographer. The guy is obviously a re-enactor. With his overweight size, he'd have been better off picking the dress of a regular policeman/Feldgendarm. Not the SS. Look at historical photos: there are no fat SS men (until you hit generals). Like crack units in the Army and Luftwwaffe, the SS had stringent weight limits. You did not find "Sgt. Schuttz"es (as in the late, great Hogan's Heroes) trooping about. Rear unit REMFs, of course, had different standards. (It's like looking at averweight American Civil War re-enactors, especially as Confederates. Those guys were thin because their diet was poor.) Again, my beef is with the wearer's choice of kit, not the photographer's well taken photo! (Thanks for putting up with my mini-rant!)

Weren't they also known as "chain dogs"?
