Description
I've been wondering how Fabrizio passes the ten months or so between his arrival in Antalia and his meeting with Francesco. He has no aristo friends and little inclination to make any; he lives a secluded life with his elderly servant Rodrigo; and although he spends a few evenings at Sordi's now and again, I realised I'd never thought about what he did the rest of the time. Then I remembered that his family's house has an old library of dust-covered books, and so I decided that Fabrizio would probably have worked his way through most of these old tales of chivalry (which explains his rather idealistic approach to life). At some point, I also decided that he played a musical instrument, and a lute seemed the most likely instrument to be lying around an aristo house (although it's been transformed into a theorbo for the purposes of this picture; I don't own a 3D model of a lute). And so suddenly Fabrizio's life didn't seem that dissimilar from many teenagers' lives: brooding around the house, playing music and reading novels while trying to ignore the world outside...
It struck me that Francesco has had most of the limelight recently and so I thought it was time to do another picture of Fabrizio. Besides which, I've just bought the Precious & Rare Furniture pack and wanted to play with the lovely chair - which I am sorry to say I've had to rough up a bit. Fabrizio might be nominally an aristocrat but he's perennially short of money.
Oh, I should explain the title. I decided that Fabrizio was playing Ricercar 84, composed by the Renaissance musician Francesco da Milano. :-)

This is really well done! Most intriguing is that you have him in shorts (or his hose pulled up) which makes him very natural, relaxed, and real looking! Nice touch there!

Beautiful composition - you have artfully placed the shadow of his head indicating an open window and late afternoon sun. Spot on. Now two very small points (you know me!): 1. Left shin breaks the plane of the chair awkwardly - suggest using a d-former (they are worth learning how to use) to push that part of the cushion a little further away from his leg. 2. Though the hand positions look authentic, if he's really playing #84 I think they would be always in the upper register. Since the balance currently looks great, I think he's playing another piece ;-) Gary
